Jerry Wright Gyotaku Collection
Jerry Wright is a Sitka, Alaska artist and member of the Nature Printing Society. His style of art is Gyotaku (Fish Printing). Subjects are sea life such as fish, octopus, crab, and starfish. He uses non-toxic ink or paint which is applied to the surface. Rice paper or cloth is then placed over the specimen and rubbed to absorb the pigment forming a life like, detailed image of the subjects. This technique reveals an image that is nearly impossible to achieve in any other art form. Each original print is always unique. Each design includes his personal chop which in Japanese says Fish Print Man. We're thrilled to feature Jerry's stunning artwork on our leggings and other 57 Peaks products.
