The Western Massasauga (Sistrurus catenatus tergeminus) is a light grey venomous pit viper marked by dark brown blotches along its spine, and two or three rows of dark brown on its sides. If you live in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, or Texas, you may have rubbed shoulders (so to speak) with this rattlesnake.
